The startup meeting of National Key R&D Program of China（2018YFB1105100）, entitled as “Intelligent Bionic Structure Design Technology Based on Additive Manufacturing” was successfully held in Changchun, China, on September 19, 2018. The officers from the High Technology Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, peer-review experts, principal investigators and project team members from Jilin University, China University of Petroleum-Beijing, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Wuhan University attended the meeting.

    Professor Longjian Xue is one of the four project principals of the whole project, he is in charge of the subproject entitled as “Function Evaluation and Application Verification of Additive Manufacturing Shape Memory Materials/Devices”. Meanwhile, associated professor Yifeng Lei and Ph.D. candidate Baisong Yang of NISE-Lab also attended the meeting. Professor Xue introduced the research plan, research content and implementation plan of the subproject. The experts discussed on the implementation plan and project management, and provided detailed guidance and suggestions on the project assessment objectives and technical routes. Final decision was made to launch the project.

    The implementation of this National Key R&D Program is expected to make important breakthroughs in key technologies for intelligent bionic structure design based on additive manufacturing, which will further strengthen and consolidate the technical development and industrial progress in this field.
